John Brennan: Communication and Strategy expert.

With over 20 years’ experience John has worked with all types of education providers. He has provided advice, direction and quality solutions across the full spectrum of culture, communication, reputational and brand related issues. John is a trusted adviser to several CEOs, principals and headteachers and has a proven record in getting results and improving schools outcomes. John is currently working with several new MATs providing advice on formation, growth and offer development strategies. He also advises a number of more established Trusts on their external communications strategy and is helping develop a sustainable pupil pipeline for member schools.

Gemma Duxbury: Senior Associate at Forbes.

Gemma joined Forbes from a role as Deputy Head of Legal and then Acting Head of Legal at a local council in the North West. She has many years’ experience in transactional, procurement and governance matters within a Local Authority setting and her experience includes dealing with all the academy conversions in the Blackpool area. Gemma has provided advice to schools on a whole range of legal matters and is currently working with a number of schools that have ambitious growth plans for the future.

Ruth Rule-Mullen, Partner & Head of Public Sector Employment at Forbes.

Ruth has specialised in employment law for over 20 years. She has a vast range of experience and advises on complex matters regarding public sector and education clients in managing their teams; their trade union relations; their reputational risks and all other matters relating to employment law and HR. She is one of only a few solicitors that has successfully represented clients in a trade union inducements claim and has a strong background in trade union relations and crisis management. Ruth is frequently recognised by clients within the education and public sectors as someone who is a more than able communicator; direct, decisive and pragmatic but is also able to demonstrate a solid understanding of the sectors she operates in.

The event is on Thursday 14th October 10am-11:30am and is aimed at guiding those in education through the process of MAT conversion and growth.

The session will explore what education managers should be considering to enable them to either grow their existing academies or to convert to either a SAT or join a MAT.
