Trust CEO's & the development of the concept of Holistic Comms.

At Glove, we work with a number of CEO’s of multi academy trusts, helping them understand the context for strategic communications in trust development.

It is important to note that the recently published Trust Development Statements and Trust Quality Descriptions are central to providing the planning and narrative framework for trust growth – certainly in Education Improvement Areas for the latter document.

But, as we hear so much from trusts – “we know what we are meant to do – but we don’t know how to do it”.

So – it is worth looking at how the Multi Academy Trust Leadership Development Framework will help in this aspect. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/multi-academy-trust-leadership-development-ceo-content-framework

Whilst there is much to consider in the document (especially if we consider the holistic nature of communications across a trust), comms is looked at specifically in the following sections:

and very specifically:

We very much support that the framework seeks to both inform what CEOs should know but also support the learning of how to do it.

Notwithstanding both the work currently being done ourselves with our clients, and the curriculum content presumably being planned by the National Institute of Teaching as the preferred delivery partner for the “training”, there is no doubt this is one of the less understood aspects of running a complex organisation in the sector. What we hope is that through the support of organisations such as ourselves, current and future CEOs come to understand the fundamental and holistic nature of communications and how it knits all aspects of a trust together. There is no culture if that culture is not communicated. As noted in A3 – the vision of a trust must be translated into its mission, must be “continually reinforced”. These are communications actions.

If you are a CEO of a Trust and you would like to chat about how Glove can help you understand and enact strategic communications planning for you and your Trust – then please do contact us.
